Viola Pickett Lewis, one of eleven children, born to Lucille & Leroy Pickett in Douglas, GA on April 19, 1942. On March 8, 2020, at 8:30 pm, Mother Viola Pickett Lewis transitioned into Heaven’s Gates surrounded by her loving family.
She is preceded in death by both parents and sisters, Hattie Hatchett, Margaruitte Pickett, Mary Lou Glover, and brother James Pickett, and granddaughter Anita Pickett.
Mother Lewis gave her life to Christ at an early age, being saved, sanctified, Holy Ghost filled and lived a Holy life before man.
Mother Lewis was raised in Dolomite, Al, and attended Westfield High School
Mother Lewis was self-employed in the hospitality industry during her working years, and she serviced her sons until her health failed.
Mother Lewis served faithfully at New Direction Ministries under the leadership of Apostle Michael Wren, where she served on the usher board, Sunday School teacher, Bible Study teacher, the Mother Board, and Spiritual Advisor until her health failed.
She leaves to cherish her memories, four devoted sons: Luster Pickett (Barbara), Greg Lewis (LaShane), Jermone Lewis, Lawrence Lewis (Estella); five sisters: Eva Zinnerman, Geraldine Pickett (Victor), Cecil Lawrence, Annie Lee Jones, Connie Pickett, and Alvin Pickett; grandchildren: Lester (son) Shewanna Pickett , David Moore, Mark Pickett, TaQueta Ruffins, Shanita Pickett-Smith, Kamala Lewis, Kendra Lewis, KeAndre Lewis, Lawrence Lewis, Jr. LaToya Murray, Deshawnna Lewis, Cortez Chandler, Meleehia Rush; and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins, and other relatives and friends.
