Stanley Glover Obituary

Stanley W. Glover was born on May 3, 1957 in Birmingham, AL  to the late Thelma Watford and the late Jeff Glover, Sr.  He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Adamsville, AL under the pastorate of Reverend W. S. Lewis.  He later rededicated his commitment to Christ under Pastor Charles Griggs where he remained a faithful Sunday school advocate and encouraged his fellow church members by saying “Don’t Forget to Come to Sunday School”.

Stanley was educated in the Jefferson County School System, graduating from Minor High School , Class of 1975.  After graduation, he attended Walker Technical College where he received his certification in Coal Mining Safety Training.  He was employed by Jim Walters Coal Mine.

Stanley was a proud and loyal legend in Adamsville where he enjoyed socializing with his homies UNDER THE TREE, so much so when given the platform on National TV/ESPN while attending his nephew’s basketball game at Indiana University, he gave a “SHOUT OUT” to his crew under the tree.  This is one example among many of his impacts he so often had on others, never meeting a stranger while traveling and supporting his family for sporting events across the United States.  Stanley was a DIE HARD Alabama Crimson Tide Football fan - RTR!!

After the death of his mother, Stanley felt it necessary as the Patriarch of the family to continue momma’s legacy of family gatherings.  We can all attest to these fun filled times on vacations, holidays, etc.  He had a heart of gold, wonderful sense of humor (often times cussing) and was freely giving with all that he had. He was introduced to various social medial outlets by niece Elise and with her help became savvy in utilization of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter which kept him connected on all fronts. He enjoyed reading and looking after of his elderly neighbor Mrs. Margaret Bell.   They always had each other’s best interest at heart.

He was proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents:  Mr. Earnest and Mrs. Lucille Florence and his unconditionally loving mother, Mrs. Thelma Watford.

On Thursday, October 29, 2020, he gently transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home.

He leaves to cherish his memories:  loving and supportive siblings - E. N. Watford (Belinda), Ronald Glover, Sophronia Hall (Keith), Yancena Perry (Melvin), Jeff Glover (Sacra), Barry Watford (Debbie).  A daughter Starr Kirkland  and grandchildren Kameria, Derek (Jay) and Jackarri.
His #1 fans:  CWAT -Christian Watford (Morganne and Macee’), Gawjus- Elise Watford, and T! - Trendon Watford.
Proud nephews and nieces:   Sierra, Anthony, and Aiden Hall, Spencer, Caleb and Zoie Perry, Victoria Glover, Katara Watford, Chaipae and Rafaeal Doaty.
