Sheila Alexander was born November 10, 1959, at Holy Family Hospital, to the late, Mr. Haywood and Dorothy Alexander.
Sheila was educated in the Birmingham School system. She attended Butler Elementary and Minnie Holman Elementary School. She graduated from Woodlawn High School, Class of 1978. She attended Hertzing Institute and graduated in Secretarial Science.
She confessed Christ and was baptized at New Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Rufus L. McGhee, Sr. She sang in the choir and was on the usher board. She was a faithful member until her death. She had recently joined South Elyton Baptist Church under watch care.
She was employed with the Jefferson County Department of Health. She retired after 25 years of service. She was employed with J. C. Penny’s for a number of years. She was employed with Home Depot Eastwood at the time of her death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Elliott Jerome Alexander; two sisters, Ms. Gwen Davis-Freeney and Ms. Yvonne Alexander; two stepsisters, Dr. Angela Adams and Ms. Tara Adams; two brothers, Mr. Haywood Alexander, Jr. and Mr. Micah Alexander; one stepbrother, Kenneth Adams; one aunt, Mrs. Martha C. McDowell; four uncles, Mr. Roy Grisby (Sarah), Mr. Clifton Casey, Mr. W. A. Casey, Mr. James Casey.
She was preceded her in death by her sisters, Ms. Hazel Dorene Alexander and Minnie Lee Alexander; one brother also preceded her in death, Mr. Jerome Owes.
Her grandmothers also preceded her in death, Mrs. Sadie Mobley and Mrs. Lucy M. Snipes.
Her aunts, Mrs. Dazzerene Harrison and Ms. Margarite Whitlow preceded her in death; one uncle, Mr. Joseph Alexander also preceded her in death.
Many nieces, Ms. Nakesha Davis, Dr. Shenita D. Freeny, Ms. Destiny Mann, Ms. LaDonna Owes, Ms. Krystal Owes, Tawnia Freeney, Marissa Adams, Shalanda Mann, Glenda Mann, Tiara Alexander, Kayona Alexander, Tonya Feagan, Tanya Turner, Latasha Hollis, Bailey Alexander, Anaya Fitch, Arianna Fitch, Allison Medrano, and Cameron Graham; nephews, Charles Freeney, Jr., Shannon Mann, Micah Alexander, Jr., Temarkus Reid, Dequan Wells; Great niece, Ms. Ki’Aundra Davis; great nephews, Kai and Kristopher Owes, Jason and Chase Freeney. Sheila had many close cousins, and other relatives, co-workers and friends.
