Mr. Phillip G. Strickland was born March 6, 1955, in Leeds, Alabama, to the late Mr. Samuel Strickland and Mrs. Doris Glenn Strickland.
He confessed Christ at an early age at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Leeds, Alabama, and later unite with Mt. View Baptist Church of Margaret, Alabama. He worked for M & B Metals as a painter for 44 years. He was called home on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at 11:30 A. M., at his home.
Phillip married the love of his life, Brenda Faye Strickland on June 27, 1975. Their devoted and loving 44 1/2 years together rewarded them with two children: a beautiful daughter, Yolanda Jenise and a handsome son, Phillip Samuel Strickland. Phillip was extremely proud of both.
Phillip was full of life, jovial, joking, laughing, playing always making you laugh and smile. You never left his presence without a joke or hearing about his Dallas Cowboys. When he started his sentences with some of his favorite lines, "come on now", or "you mean to tell me", or "now you know", or "let me ask you this", you knew to prepare yourself for his "tease". And, you never minded what followed because he would always finish with, "you know I love you"... and you knew he meant it. He enjoyed life. His family was his heaven here on earth. Phillip is lighting up heaven now walking around, leaping, running around, laughing, joking, and making his family and friends there smile and feel loved as he did hear on earth.
Phillip joins in heaven his baby girl , Yolanda, to whom she was his best friend and her "Da". Also waiting with open arms are his parents Samuel and Doris; welcoming him with smiles and loving embraces, his brother Samuel Strickland, Jr., and his sisters Sallie Mae Strickland Daniels and Debra Strickland Fisher.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife: Brenda; his three sisters: Juanita Hooks, Youngstown, Ohio, Christine Holston, Springville, Alabama, and Gloria Looney, Leeds, Alabama; four brothers: Fred (Gwen) Strickland, Willie (Joann) Strickland, Stanley (Jeanetta) Strickland and Robert (Elizabeth) Stearns; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
