Nellie A. (Spidell) Abercrombie

Mrs. Nellie A. Spidell Abercrombie was born April 19, 1929, to the late Mr. John Spidell and Mrs. Mary Bell White.  She transitioned this life on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at the age of 89.  

Her parents, sisters Beulah Kirksey, Mary Woods, Juanita Kelly, brothers John Spidell, M. L. Miles, all preceded her in death.

She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Leeds, Alabama, where she worked faithfully as an usher for many years.

Mrs. Nellie was educated in the Leeds School System. She enjoyed traveling and being around people. She was employed at Goldkist for over 30 years. 

Nellie met and married Thomas Abercrombie and to this union six children were born. Thomas, who always addressed her as Nell and daughters Vivian Gray, also preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories three sons: Thomas, Delano (Vanessa) and Steve (Henrietta); two daughters: Linda (Marshall) Rose and Debbie Abercrombie; three sisters: Fannie Burt, Wilma Pearson and Marilyn Anderson; four brothers: Roger Miles, Clifton Ray Anderson, Charles (Maggie) Anderson and Jerry (Rose) Anderson; five sisters-in-law: Mattie Abercrombie, Lula Abercrombie, Mildred Carter, Ernestine Burton and Lucille Abercrombie; one brother-in-law: Ullman Abercrombie; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
