Mildred Patricia Radney Lewis was called by many names, Mom, Mama Mildred, GrandMa, Nana, Nanabread, Aunt Mildred and the most precious was Miracle. She was born November 21, 1941 the third child to the late John Tyler Radney and Susie Frazier Radney. She defied all doctor’s reports until the day she left this earth. Her parents were told she would only live to be 6 months old, then 16 years and once that milestone was reached, she would never have children. On March 4, 2020 she was given the report that she had 3-5 days of life left. She remained a fighter for 9 more days.
She confessed Christ at an early age and attended Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in Gadsden, Alabama later joining True Faith in Gadsden, Alabama. She relocated to Birmingham, Alabama in 1998 and continued to serve the Lord until her illness. She worshiped with her family at Church of the Highlands Grants Mill Campus.
Mildred is a 1960 graduate of Carver High School Gadsden, Alabama. In 1961, she was joined in marriage to Robert Lee Lewis and to this union one daughter was born. She departed this life on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Aspire Cahaba Birmingham, Alabama with her daughter and nephew by her side.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, George Radney, Sr and Clifford Radney, Sr; and her sister Lois Clark. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted daughter Juanita Lewis Franklin (Tyrone) of Birmingham, Alabama; two granddaughters, Krystal (Desmond) and Tenecia (Maurice) of Birmingham, Alabama; a special friend for over 40 years, Lowell O. Watkiins, Sr. Cleveland, Ohio, five great grandchildren, Crystian/CJ, Desmond/JoJo, Dylan, Drayden and Skylar; two God given grandchildren, Kia (Patrick) and DeAndria; six God given great grandchildren, Devonte’, Gabrielle, Destiny, Haleigh, JP and Hazel; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
