LaGretta will be truly missed; she was many things during her life- Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Loving Wife. It is impossible to explain the impact she had on the lives around her.
LaGretta Denise Avery Riddle, 67, was born to the late Joseph Simpkins and Sallie Avery McClure. She was educated in the Birmingham City Schools system where she graduated from AH Parker High School in 1971. She endeavored to pursue a career in nursing where she received an associated degree in Marshall, TX. She continued nursing until she was injured on the job which ended her nursing career.
She was baptized at Mt. Mariah Baptist Church in Pratt City at the age of 10. She continued her walk with Christ at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church until her sunset.
She became a member of Hager #7 O.E.S. where she placed two years in a row in District 19 Queen Coalition.
Her favorite things included; being a fashion statement, by wearing beautiful clothes, stylist shoes, designer handbags, jewelry, the best make-up, and her favorite love for sunglasses, earning her the name (Sunglass Diva).
LaGretta departed her long struggle with heart disease and kidney failure at UAB Hospital with a peaceful transaction on November 23, 2019 at 9:37 pm.
She leaves to morn a loving husband David Riddle of over 25 years, three Loving Sons John Johnson, Jr (JJ), Landon Avery Johnson, JaMarcuss DeJuan Johnson, Sr (Christen), Sallie Avery McClure (Caring Mother), Bobbie Renee Floyd (Loving Sister), six Beautiful Grandchildren (Kylie Zanita (Louisiana), Miguel Jaylon, Demetrious Patrick, Zachery Aiden (Australia), JaMarcuss Jr. (Buttons) and Chloe (Chlo Chlo), two nieces, Quanneka Womack (Samuel Tanoh) and Rachida Willis Goods, one Nephew Micah Floyd (Mikey), one grand niece Destani Womack, and one grand nephew Jalani Womack, two Aunts, Dorothy Sparks, Danella Johnson, God Brother Ronald Barrett and many other beloved relatives and friends.
LaGretta also had an abundance of love for all of her grandchildren.
LaGretta proceeded in death by Joseph Simpkins (Father) and Zanita Clevaun Avery (Daughter)
