On the evening of September 13th, 2022, Kelly Leigh Foster of Birmingham passed away at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center at the age of 58.
Kelly was born to Carolyn and the late Elton Bailey on October 10, 1963. She grew up in Cahaba Heights and was a 1982 graduate of Shades Valley High School. Following graduation, she married and started a family. She was a stay-at-home mom and later found her calling in the hospitality industry.
Kelly loved to cook. It was more than a passion. She enjoyed feeding people, and often expressed her love by doing so. She dreamt of owning a restaurant that served her own recipes. She was an avid reader who collected books and loved the outdoors. It wouldn't be unusual for her to set up a picnic in the park and read for hours. She was quick-witted, generous, and extremely intelligent. She was a very skilled teacher, and always had the perfect analogy to explain her point. She loved to travel and see live music. She wanted every experience to be a memory and she loved trying new things simply for the novelty. She will be so missed.
In addition to her father, Kelly was preceded in death by her beloved son, Christopher Reuben Barnes.
She is survived by her doting husband of twenty-two years, Sherman Foster, her two daughters, Jessica Barnes and KC Powell Speake (Eric) and her son Rantheo "Randy" Woods (Lavedia), all of Birmingham. Kelly also leaves behind her mother, Carolyn Yeager (Clyde), sister Tami (Bailey) Holby, and nephew Jeremy Holby.
Services are being held privately.
