Jerald Ayers made his heavenly eternal entrance on Monday March 9, 2020 at the age of 74.
During the summer on July 30, 1945, Calanthee Ayers birthed a bouncing baby boy, she named him Jerald.
Jerald received Christ at an early age and was educated in Birmingham City School system. He was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School, class of 1963. Upon graduation he made a commitment to protect and serve his country. He immediately enlisted into the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam war until he was honorably discharged on May of 1972.
He was a faithful employee of McWayne Pipe and Steel for over 30 years until his retirement in 2009. Jerald enjoyed a blissful life and lived his life to the fullest. In his leisure he enjoyed traveling, shopping, music and spending time with family. He was honored to be called “Granddaddy” and spoke boastfully of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Calanthee Ayers Harris and brother, George Effinger. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 23 years, Rose of Birmingham, AL ; 7 devoted children, Bridgett (James) Beckett, Tina (Andre) Tyus, Lenall Parish, Roderick (Ebony) Stewart, Tari Williams, LaSharn (Courtney) Calhoun and Tunisia Williams all of Birmingham, AL; 12 treasured grandchildren – Chad, Jordan, Angel, Star, Christopher, Carolyn, Austin, Asa, Jabriel, Ariyahl, Elijah and Kristian; 9 adorable great grands and a copious number of uncles, aunts, cousins, family and friends.
