Javanna Cotton Owens (Midge) was born August 10, 1949, to the late Norman and Helen Cotton. She was educated in the Birmingham City School system, and graduated Business College. She accepted Christ at an early age at Shady Grove Baptist Church. She met and married Milous Slown Owens. To this union one daughter was born, Bekimba Owens. She later moved to Wilson Chapel Baptist Church where she faithfully served in the gospel chorus. She then relocated to Harris Homes and joined Mount Mariah Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Helen Cotton, her husband, Milous Owens, and her grandson, Marquette Milous Carter. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Bekimba Owens Carter (Edwin Diaz Cancel); three grandchildren, Karisma Owens (DeAngelo), Tavoris Carter, Ciarria Gulley; eight great grandchildren; six siblings, Audrey Williams (Arthur), Elivra Ransom (James), Norma Wynn, Vernandez McCurdy, Sharon Battle and David Bentley (Shirley); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, and family and friends.
