Mrs. Henry Jean Wilkerson was born on August 27,1940, in Helena, Alabama, to the late Mr. Henry Fitts and Ms. Gladys Moore.
Henry was educated in the Birmingham City School System where she attended Washington Elementary and graduated from A. H. Parker High School. After finishing high school, she was employed by Children's Hospital, where she retired as a Supervisor within the Environmental Services Department
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and never waivered in her faith. She demonstrated her faith and dedication through membership at Thomas Chapel AME Zion Church under the leadership of Reverend Michael Marbury, later joining the Mt. Zion Community Church under the guidance and leadership of Pastor Willie L. Poinett. During these years, she demonstrated her conviction and stewardship by serving as Sunday School Superintendent and as member of the Board of Officers (Thomas Chapel). She later became a member of the Willie L. Poinett Choir, Senior Usher Board and served as president of the Mt. Zion Community Church Alter Circle.
On November 25, 1978, she married the love of her life Carl M. Wilkerson, Sr. to which Carl M. Wilkerson, Jr. was born.
She departed this life on October 23, 2020, at 1:15 AM, at Brookwood Medical Center.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted husband: Mr. Carl M. Wilkerson, Sr.; Sister: Delorse Fox; Two Sons: Carl M. Wilkerson, Jr. and Walter Arnold, Jr. (Deceased); Daughters: LaShella Arnold, Classie Arnold and Gladys Edwards; Grandchildren: Kesha Arnold, Taylor and Tyrone Heard, Markus Edwards, Brandon Edwards, and Travis Green; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
