Eugenia Denise (Jean) Rutledge was born to Johnny Bridge and Mable Lee Kirksey on July 11, 1956, at Holy Family Hospital Ensley, Alabama.
She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Crumbley Baptist Church Fairfield, Alabama. As a young adult, she joined First Baptist Church, Eastlake, 10th Avenue North and later joined 46th Street Baptist Church, Eastlake where she served as an usher for many years under the leadership of Rev. E. Crump.
Mrs. Rutledge was educated in the Fairfield and Birmingham School Systems and earned her GED and completed 2 years of college. Afterwhich, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Mrs. Rutledge had been employed at Burgess Nursing Home, Jefferson County Nursing and Glen Ireland Rehabilitation where she retired.
Although Mrs. Rutledge had a long and courageous battle with illness that did not stop her faith in God.
Eugenia was kind, generous, considerate, easy going with a pleasant personality who loved children and did not mind helping people in need. She was family oriented and dedicated. Mrs. Rutledge was 64 years old.
Mrs. Rutledge is preceded in death by her mother Mable Lee Kirksery, father Johnny Bridge, sister Florence Smith, uncle Robert Bailey, Sr., aunt Mary Billingsley, uncle Amos Hall, sisters Brenda Joyce Kirksey and Jeanette Fisher.
Mrs. Rutledge is survived by a devoted husband of 46 years: Ronald Rutledge; daughter: Carolyn F. Denise Rutledge; son: Rogelim Rutledge; daughter: Tameka Washington (Curtis); grandsons: Curtis C. Washington and Rogelim Washington; granddaughters: Carlesia Eugenia Washington, Makayla Rutledge and Nichole Rutledge; special grandson: Eric Gamble; brother: Michael Fisher; sisters: Janice Fisher, Melinda Faye Fisher, Tawana Purdom, Jennifer Biffle (Jesse) and Charee Smith; step-father: Willie Smith (Letha); grandmother: Mary Smith; aunt: Mary Hall; brother-in-law: Larry Groves, Sr. (Freda); sisters-in-law: Carla Tyus and Rhonda Rutledge; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
