Eddie Lee Lapsley was born August 1, 1952, the second child of Eddie M. Lapsley (deceased) and Sallie C. Lapsley McNeily.
Eddie was a born again Christian with a steadfast faith in Jesus Christ as his Saviour and Lord. He was an ordained deacon in the Baptist Church and last served at Community Baptist Church, Penfield Park. Eddie was educated in the Birmingham Public School system, having graduated in the 1970 class of Carol W. Hayes High School where he was prolific in Oratory. He furthered his education at St. Bernard College in Cullman, AL where he received a BA degree in Elementary Education. Eddie also excelled on the basketball court at St. Bernard as a walk-on and was later afforded an athletic scholarship.
Eddie began a career of service as an educator at Oliver Elementary School in Birmingham. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He continued his passion to serve as an employee of The San Antonio Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas. Upon returning to Birmingham he served at Glenwood A&B Health Center, Aletheia House, The Recovery Organization of Support Specialist and retired as an Educational Correctional Counselor with the Alabama Department of Corrections. He was also a member of the Masonic Order.
Eddie was preceded in death by his brother Emmett Lapsley, brother-in-law Ralph Harper and nephew Darrion J. Lapsley, Sr.

Butler (Cameron); grandchildren, Connor Solomon Lee Renfro, Ellison N. Butler; siblings, Pattie L. Slaton (Otis), Willie L. Wedgeworth (Otis), Edna L. Lowe (Jessie), Rodney Lapsley (Mary); brothers-in-law, Woodrow Harper (Gaye), Kelly Littlejohn (Shirley); sisters-in-law, Almeta Bell, Virginia B. Harper, Mitzi Lapsley, Carolyn B. Lapsley.
