Donald Brayboy, Sr., affectionately known by many as “Duck”, made his heavenly transition on August 17, 2020. Donald Brayboy Sr. was born to Herbert and Lula Brayboy on September 9, 1941.
Though born to the Brayboy’s, he was raised by a strong and fierce grandmother, Louella Brown, that everyone knew as “Big Mamma”, whose memory he cherished all the days of his life.
Donald joined the Catholic faith in 1954 while being educated in the Catholic School System. He graduated from Immaculata High School in 1960 and immediately joined the Air Force. His travels with the Air Force took him to the United Kingdom where he met Fiona Fraser with whom he bore a son. Donald later married Katherine Ellis Brayboy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Lula Brayboy, his wife Katherine, as well as his granddaughter, Talisa Maria Young.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter/caretaker, Lisa Brayboy of Pinson, AL, two sons Martin (Jill) Fraser of Bedford, Bedfordshire, England, and Donald (Judith) Brayboy, Jr. of Shreveport, LA; one sister, Anita (Rudy) Lee of Birmingham, AL; two brothers, Herbert (Ervie) Brayboy of Augusta, GA, and Rickey (Edna) Johnson of Birmingham, AL; son-in-law, Allen Poythress, Sr. of Birmingham, AL; two nephews Jonathan (Julissa) Smith and Tony (Jackie) Brayboy; seven grandchildren: Allen Poythress, Jr., Fawn (Melvin) Parrish, Hollie Fraser, Jacoya (Irvin) Carmack, Conner Fraser, Donald Brayboy III and Martin Coleman. Five great grandchildren: Joshua Young, Trinity Young, Bailey Young, Lillian Carmack and Paisley Currenton; and special cousin Richard (Patricia) Henderson.
