Corene Larkin was the oldest of 8 children born to the late Calvin and Dora Drummond on March 22, 1922, in Cuba, Alabama.
She attended Kinderbish Elementary School and later Sumpter County High. She confessed Christ at an early age and attended Pine Grove Baptist Church in Cuba, Alabama. She later moved to Bessemer, Alabama, in 1947. She then joined 6th Avenue Beulah Baptist Church in Bessemer under the leadership of the late Samuel Marshall. She faithfully served as a member of the No. 2 Choir. In 1949, she married the late William “Nip” Larkin. They were married for 36 years.
Mrs. Corene Larkin was a hard worker. She was a business owner at the Bessemer Flea Market for 33 years. She was very well known for her cooking, especially her homemade rolls, cakes, and baked sweet potato pies. She also enjoyed fishing and most importantly her love for the Lord.
She was proceeded in death by her Parents, her Husband William “Nip” Larkin, her Son William “B” Ware, Her Sisters, Lorene Drummond, Emma Parris, Irene Tallison, Christine Drummond, L.C. Drummond, & Dora Mae Brown.
She leaves her precious memories to her devoted children: James Ware, Lula Mae Smith, Theresa (Henry) Berry; Her grandchildren: Angela Smith, LaChezra “Pooh”Larkin, Natalie Dudley, Gerald Ware, Rita Ware, Aaron Ware David Ware, Sandy Ware, Keysha Hancock, Melba “Lisa” Moore; Great Grand Children: Keylan Smith, Jemeria Wheeler, Dracey Ware, Deandre Dudley and Nikki Ware; One Step-son: Rev James Brown, One Adopted son: Charlie “Nookie” Burts; a special friend Brenda Gates; and a host of other relatives and friends.
