Deacon Barry Anderson (Blue), was born January 6, 1969, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Brownie Brown and Helen Anderson, who preceded him in death.
He attended the Birmingham Public Schools. He was married to Althea Anderson for twenty-eight years. He was an excellent father and provider for their eight children, as well as a good husband to Althea. In 2011, he was invalid in an accident, while trimming a tree. He fell and injured his spine. Although he was a paraplegic, he continuously worked hard for his family. He trained his boys to work, it seemed, as soon as they were able to walk.
Deacon Barry Anderson also served on the Usher Board. He would often tease some of the members of the church who had been out for two or three days and say to them, “How are you doing today?” Then he would say, “Fill out this visitation card please.”
He turned his life over to God at the age of seventeen years old. He became a member of Mustard Seed Faith Cathedral, where he received the Holy Ghost under the ministry of Pastor Annette Dunner and Elder Rich Dunner. He remained faithful until his death. He was always concerned about the church. He kept the grass cut and the yard cleaned. Whenever we would use our banquet facility, Deacon Anderson would stay after everyone else had gone to make sure the church was clean and the garbage was put in the dumpster. Being in a wheelchair never stopped him from getting his sons and assisting them in cutting the grass and keeping the church grounds clean.
He was well loved by many people, who considered him a strong and a good man. He was also loved by the children. He loved the little children as well. They enjoyed riding with him on his motorized wheelchair. He would let them sit on his laps he rode them around the sanctuary.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife: Althea Anderson; four sons: Jeramie, Barry Jr., Deon (Ja’Henri), Joshua Anderson; four daughters: Tylisha (Richard) Dunner, Cynthia, Angel, Kiara Anderson; one brother: Larry (Tamlyn) Anderson; four sisters: Cora Anderson, Tracy Moore, Michelle (Larry) Peterson, Barbara Thomas; one grandchild: Kendall, whom he calls Dewey; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; five sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law; a loving church family.
