Archie Lee Garrett was born the youngest child to Zella Lou Garrett and Elijah Garrett, Sr. on July 26, 1956 in Talladega, AL.
Archie served faithfully as a deacon at First Baptist Church South Pell City, AL, and was a member of the choir where he enjoyed using his voice to uplift and edify God.
Archie Garrett was a 1974 graduate of Talladega High School. Upon graduation, Archie received his Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Talladega College. He pursued a career in Alabama Department of Corrections from 1979 to 2008, where he made significant contributions to the Department’s mission and goals in various ranks of the Department during his years of service. He retired as a Correctional Warden II in January 1, 2008, having committed faithful service that reflects greatly upon him as a leader.
He was a devoted and loving husband to Aileen Garrett, who he loved unconditionally, and blessed to celebrate 40 years of marriage. From this union, he leaves to cherish his memory as a loving and supportive father to Tony Alex Garrett, Shunta Lanae Garrett, Shenequa Zella-Shay Garrett, and as a doting grandfather to Bella Rose Garrett, and Brooklyn Reign Garrett.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Zella Garrett and Elijah Garrett. Sr., 3 sisters: Jimmy Lou Garrett, Essie Armbrester (Bobby), and Betty Jean Brown (Willie Joe), as well as 3 brothers: Little Noy Garrett, Eddie Garrett (Earline), and Benjamin Garrett (Ella Mae). He is survived by a brother Elijah Garrett (Hannah), and a dedicated sister-n-law Sharon Matthews (Frank).
He also leaves to cherish his memory as an uncle to a host of nephews, and nieces who loved and admired him greatly.
