Andre DeWayne Watkins was born October 1, 1965, in Shelby County. To the parentage of Reverend Frank & Martha Jean Watkins.
He attended Birmingham City Schools and was a Graduate of George Washington Carver High School with the class of 1984 under the Principal Donald Debrow. He also, played 4 years of football under Head Coach Willie Peake.
Andre confessed Christ at an early age at Thomas Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church under Pastor M.D. Marbury. Andre worked at numerous incorporations over the years. But last as a security officer with Eagle Security Inc. for many years until his health begin to decline.
Andre was a big Alabama football and Los Angeles Lakers basketball fan. Anyone who knew him knew he loved his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents Reverend Frank and Martha Jean Watkins.
He leaves to cherish his lifelong memories His wife: Nikitris Harper Watkins, 8 children: Crystal Watkins, Andre (Shakita) Watkins Jr., Glenda Watkins, Maricuz Watkins, Byron Watkins, Aundrea Watkins , Jextany Watkins, and Tristan Watkins. 10 grandchildren: Jaymon, De’Andre, Bryson, Tarvaris, Braydon, Cam’ron, Keylon, Londyn, Bre’ya, and belated Brielle, 4 brothers: Byron L. (Yvette) Watkins, Birmingham, AL, Larry Rush, San Diego, CA, Edward (Catherine) Jackson III, and George Barnes Jr., Lancaster, CA, 3 sisters: Diane Holt, Las Vegas, NV, Hattie (Gregory) Holman, Helena, AL , belated Ann Barnes, Las Vegas, NV, 2 nephews: Boris (Kendra) Watkins Sr., and Boshe (Justice) Watkins Sr., 1 niece: Khalynn Watkins and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
