Albert James Tate, Sr. was born June 14, 1945, to the late Deacon Frank and Tennie Mae Tate in Birmingham, Alabama.
He was educated in the Birmingham School System. He accepted Christ at an early age at the Greater New Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Townsoud, and now Rev. Van Johnson. He retired from the city of Birmingham after 33 years of services. He was a faithful member of the #2 usher board.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers, sister and son. Albert peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 15, 2020.
He leaves to cherish in his memories: three daughters: Tijuana Tate, Irene (Charles) Anderson, and Alberta Tate all of Birmingham, Alabama; four sons: James Shelton of New York, Otis Shelton of Atlanta, Georgia, Hakeem Tate, and Zamariane Tate of Birmingham, Alabama; one brother: Earnest (Cindy) Tate of Columbus, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. A special friend: Ms. Lillian Adams.
