Veronica was born one of sixteen children in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Mr. and Mrs. William & Johnnie Pharris, on October 7, 1950.
She attended Louise Elementary School, Alberto Shields and Hayes High Schools. She was a certified nursing assistant. She worked as a nursing assistant at several nursing homes until her disability that resulted in an early retirement. However, she continued in nursing and helped raise her nieces and nephews whom she loved and who loved her very much.
She read her Bible every day and spent time meditating and talking with God. The day she went home to be with the Lord, her Bible was opened on the couch right by her side.
She leaves to cherish her memories five sisters: Yolanda V. Hill, Ingrid (Joseph) Thomas, Irissa Pharris (Gerald Mason), Yansclion (Odyssey) Bates, Guelivie Pharris; three brothers: William (Evelyn) Pharris, Ray (Shirley) Pharris and Tora (Debbie) Pharris; twenty-one nieces and nephews, sixty-one great-nieces and nephews, ten great, great-nieces and nephews, five special friends that was by her side to the end: LaShawn (friend/nurse), Tosha, Squirt, Sherley, and Levell were there like the footsteps in the sand all the time when she needed them. We thank God for friends like these.
