Thelma L. Carlton was born December 15, 1941, to the late Sara and John Stephens in Birmingham, Alabama.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Walter Carlton, Jr. who preceded her in death. She was employed with Homewood High School for over 20 years until she retired.
She was a loving and caring mother to her children. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was very kind, giving, spiritual and most of all humorous. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always cherish the love and compassion she instilled. Anyone who met her loved her and enjoyed her presence. She will forever be missed by everyone.
She departed life peacefully on September 14, 2018, in the comfort of her home surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Sara and John Stephens, brothers: Johnny Stephens, Otis Stephens, Willie Stephens, Albert Stephens, Milton Stephens and sister: Ruby Stephens.
She leaves to cherish her many memories; five children: Robin Hudson, Joe Nathan Wells, Jr., David Wells, Natalie Wells (Darron) and Janice (Leland) Pigrome; nine special grandchildren: LaKeshia, Adarius, DeAnthony, Takiya, Jammarri, Armonn, Kimora, Dynia, Prentice; twenty-seven beautiful great-grandchildren; five sisters: Georgia Mae Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Katie Smith, Bernice (James) Bradley, Odessa Stephens; one brother: Nathan Stephens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special family.
