Ms. Susie Mae Chambers Cross was born November 13, 1945, to Mr. Elijah Chambers, Sr. and Mrs. Rosa Lee Everson Chambers of Greensboro, Alabama.
Susie was educated in the Jefferson County School System, where she graduated from J. S. Abrams High School in 1963.
Susie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and her faith never waivered. Being a woman of great faith, she always gave honor, glory and praise to her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a woman that loved the Lord, her children, grandchildren and family dearly.
She was a faithful member at Cathedral of of the Cross A. O. H. Church, under the leadership of Bishop Phillip Wright, her pastor. She loved her church family, Sunday School and most of all she loved the Lord and the Word of God. She would say to them that knew her and talk with her, "You got to obey the Word of God."
Susie was a minister that served well in her community as the "track lady" where she witnessed Christ to many. She also served as a minister in the Birmingham City Jail for five (5) years and also served as one with the Alabama Justice Ministries, Jail Ministry for twelve (12) years.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother: Mr. Elijah Chambers, Sr. and Mrs. Rosa Lee Chambers; and her brother: Elijah Chambers, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her four daughters: Angelia Ann Kennedy (Marcus), Felicia Ann Cheatam (Sidney), Birmingham, Alabama, Julianne Chambers, Lawrenceville, Georgia and Amelia Ann Cross, Chandler, Arizona; two sisters: Ms. Teresa Shields and Ms. Alma Chambers; one brother: Mr. Gary D. Chambers, Birmingham, Alabama; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
