Susie Atkins Obituary

Ms. Susie Lee Atkins, affectionately known as “Doll” was born June 29, 1939, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Clarence and Mary Alice Atkins.

She was educated in the Birmingham School System, where she attended McCaw School and Western Olin High School. She retired from the Birmingham School System.

Susie was a true woman of God, she was a woman of faith, and she feared the Lord. She had a heart of gold and always made everyone feel welcomed and loved. She truly had a direct contact with Jesus Christ and everyone knew it. Family and friends would always come to her for advice, whether you needed encouragement, prayer, a listening ear, or just a word of wisdom; Susie always had the right word to say.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. She later moved and joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late   Reverend William J. Sankey. She continued her membership under the leadership of Reverend Charles E. Hollingsworth until God called her home.

She departed this life on Thursday, February 7, 2019, in peace with her Master. Her memories will forever live in the heart of those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Clarence and Mary Atkins; Husband, Leroy Ball; three sons, Anthony Ball, Willie Carson, and Clarence Ball; two daughters, Thelma Ball and Pamela Ball; three sisters, Carrie Atkins, Thelma Wilson, and Josephine Gulley.
