Ms. Sonya Winborn Carter was born September 3, 1961. She was the eldest of Willie Lee Winborn and the late Andrea Walton. She attended Birmingham City, along with Jefferson County School System. She confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church and later become a faithful member of Faith Walkers Church.
Sonya worked as a Birmingham City and Jefferson County school bus driver, Max Transit driver, Alabama Limousine driver and substitute teacher.
On Sunday, October 27, 2019, God called her to rest from her earthly journey.
She is preceded in death by her mother Andrea Walton and two children Ivan Brandon and Andreanika Carter.
She leaves to cherish her memories, father: Willie Lee Winborn; one loving daughter: Ashley (Isaac) Bradford; three sons: Dedrick (Tamryon) Johnson, Li'Quori Carter and Justin (Torika) Wells; one sister: Vicki Brown; three brothers: Kevin Bryant, Demetrius (Camille) Winborn and Willie Mullins; fifteen grandchildren: Dedrick, Jr., Trequan, Tanayah, Branden, Jaylon, Uzziah, Kaileen, Alerion, Caliyhia, Caniya, LiQuorin, Takaree, Justice, Isaiah and Cassidy; two great-grandchildren: Zakwan and Mariah; special family and friends: Arizona (Buddy) Winborn, Jr., Vickey Miller, Norman "Cub" Jemison, III, Sandra Faye Gamble, Sherry Minnifield and the late Earlena Smith and Van Parmer; a host of other relatives and friends.
