Mary George Obituary

Mary Lee (Jones) George was born on December 10, 1928, in Aliceville, Alabama (Pickens County). She was one of three children born to the late Charles and Tennie Jones Morgan.

She attended and graduated from Druid High School of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Early on in her life, she married the late Lester George.

After becoming a single parent of eight children, she took on two jobs: The Neighborhood Laundry Mat and Mr. Charles Neighborhood Café.

Mary (Dear) went out of her way to do things to make sure that her children lacked nothing no less than any other child. She would go afar to places such as truck stops, on her job, even through the community selling barbecue plates, candy and other food items working to make ends meet as well as making sure her children was involved and active in school and outside of school activities. Much later in her life during her struggles, God opened up a window/door of opportunity for her to attend Nursing School in Birmingham. When she completed the course, she begin working at Fair Haven Nursing Home. A few years later she moved on to become employed at Cooper Green Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama . As opportunity continues to increase for her, she later took on a nursing position in Home Health Care through the Jefferson County Department of Health.

She gave her life to cherish at an early age where she attended the Primitive Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa County. She later joined Parker Memorial Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. In the year of 2003, she moved to Warner Robins, Georgia and became a member of Springfield Baptist Church. After returning to Birmingham, she became a member of The New Testament Missionary Baptist Church. September of 2013, she moved back to Warner Robins, Georgia. On Thursday, December 13, 2018, God decided to call Mary Lee George home to be with Him.

She was preceded in death by her father Charles Morgan, her mother Tennie Little, her brother Charles Jones, her sister Rosa B. Shade, her daughter WIllie McNiecy Jones, and her granddaughter Mary DeAngela George.

She is survived by her remaining seven children: Mary Ann Korre, Wanda Thomas, Dorothy Jean Hughes, Leslie Lee Atkins (Curtis Atkins, Sr.), Patricia Moore Althea OkOkhere, Cora Fells and Grgegory Renato George (Vicki); twenty-five grandchildren: Jesse Jones, Willie Jones, Joseph Jones, Jasmine Woods, Angelita Crawford, Chiquithia Fells, Latameka Atkins, Tawana Thomas, Patricia Moore, Curtis Atkins, Jr., Coretta Fells, Crystal Rogers, Allan Atkins, Jermey Mapp, Detra Thomas, Carlos Rogers, Carmen Fells, Tiffany Atkins, Hasan Korre, Brittany Lewis, Fummilayo OkOkhere, Omotayo OkOkhere, Funmmilola OkOkhere, Syeidah Korre, Johnny Fells, III; and a host of great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
