Marilyn Davenport Obituary

Marilyn E. Scott Davenport passed away quietly on May 27, 2018, in her home.

Marilyn was born August 19,1953, in New Castle, Al to the late Mr. James H. Scott Sr. and Ms. Estelle Scott. She grew up in Birmingham, Al, where she also attended school.

Marilyn was a wonderful sister and friend to many. She symbolized her dedication to Jehovah God, by water baptism on May 5th 1973; she remained a faithful servant to the end of her life. Marilyn married her best friend, William Davenport on May 15, 1981, from this union, they became parents to three children.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, William, father, James Scott, Sr., two siblings: Walter Needham, Jr. and Gaynell N. Young.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, three children: Crystal and Emmanuel Davenport, Lisa D. Mosley (Cedric), all of Birmingham, AL; her mother, Estelle Needham, of Birmingham, AL ; four loving and devoted siblings, James H. Scott, Jr.,Ivery Needham,  Casandra N. Starks (Fred), all of Birmingham, AL and Cedric (Renette) Needham, of Ackworth ,Georgia; her three nieces and six nephews; a very special friend, Bennetta Goodwin, along with her extended family and friends at the Birmingham North and Greenwood Congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Marilyn was truly honored to be a servant of Jehovah God. Her faith remained intact, even during her failing health. She proudly explained to doctors and hospital staff her decision to be faithful to Jehovah. She truly lived a life based on her faith and we look forward to seeing her when she is called to life again. (John 5:28, 29).

“Taste and see that Jehovah is good; Happy is the man who takes refuge in him.” - Psalms 34:8; (one of Marilyn’s favorite scriptures).
