Leroy Paige, Sr.

Leroy Paige, Sr. was born April 28, 1934, the fourth child of the late Mr. Dave Alexander and Mary Laura Paige, Sr. in Thomasville, AL.

At an early age, he accepted Christ in Linden, Alabama, where he was also educated in that same church. Later in life, his family moved to Birmingham, Alabama. In 1956, he married Mary Alice Tate to that union 8 children were born. He was employed at Sloss by-product for many of years before his health failed.

He joined Greater New Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Frank Walker. He was the van drive for Lunch with Jesus and Youth Bible Study. When the van was broke down, he would use his own vehicle to pick up members. He was a faithful member of the male chorus, sanctuary choir, usher board, and trustee board.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, three brothers, and three sisters. Leroy peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 30, 2018.

He leaves to cherish in his memories: a devoted and loving wife Mary Alice Paige; daughters: Cheryl(Michael) Pryor, Ruby Paige, Marcyleen Paige; sons Leroy (Maxine) Paige, Jr., Jerome (Voncester) Paige, Wendell Paige all of Birmingham, AL; three brothers: Edward (Brunetta)Paige, Joe Paige, Dennis(Ann)Paige; 4 sisters: Roberta Paige, Catherine (Ronnie)Nelson, Dorothy Johnson, Laura Mae Paige; two brothers-in-law: Earnest (Cindy) Tate and Albert Tate; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
