Jimmie Lovett Moore, Sr. was born on February 11, 1929, to the late Mr. Henry (Doc) and Louella Moore both of Birmingham, AL. He was educated in the Birmingham Public School System attending Thomas Elementary School and Ullman High School.
He began his working career in July 1948. His employment career was interrupted in December of 1950 when he was drafted in the United States Army during the Korean War. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned home and worked at Hayes International Aircraft (32 years) and was also later jointly employed with Plantation Pattern (12 years) until his retirement. He advanced to management positions at both companies.

He confessed Christ at an early age at Zion Star Baptist Church. He later united with 16th Street Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Arthur Price, Jr. where he was a faithful member of the Tour Ministry until his health no longer permitted him to serve.
