Gertrude “Grandma” Palmer was born September 6, 1924 to the late Oliver and Samuel Harville in Plantersville, Alabama.  She was the oldest of 12 children, 10 of which proceeded her in death. She obeyed the gospel and was baptized into Christ at an early age at the Ensley Church of Christ in Birmingham, Alabama.

She spent over 60 years with her husband Harrison Palmer, who proceeded her in death.  Together they raised one daughter, an adopted son, Dante Palmer (who proceeded her in death), four nieces (two of which proceeded her in death) and four grandchildren. Gertrude and Harrison lived in California and then moved to Alabama where she stayed until his death in 2003.

Gertrude the moved to North Carolina and resided there until her death.  She shared her love and opened her home to many and was known affectionately as “Grandma”.  She had many grandchildren by blood and many more by love.  She was a joy to be around and her smile and laughter could brighten the darkest of days.
