Equilla Gross, affectionately known as “Doll”, was born on November 30, 1929 in Evergreen, Alabama to the late Dennis and Eunice Gross. Equilla passed from this life to life everlasting on March 28, 2019.
Equilla was educated in the Birmingham City School System and worked and retired from Veterans Administration Hospital in Birmingham. She retired as a licensed practitioner nurse.
A dearly loved mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Equilla will be remembered for her fierce love of family and friends and willingness to always care for others. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Mountain Park.
Equilla was preceded in death by her son, Nathaniel Gross; grandson, Ricky Gross; granddaughter, LaShaunda Paschal; and four sisters: Ella Mae Ewing, Dorothy Roache, Rachel Gross, and Drucilla Gross.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two loving sons: Tommy (Rita) Gross and Gregory Gross; one sister, Clara Gross Holt; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a special family friend Donna Slaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
