Dennis Lyndon Abernathy, Sr.

Dennis L. Abernathy was born on October 1, 1967, to the late Mr. Stepp Abernathy and Mrs. Marilyn Lucille Abernathy, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Dennis accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

He transitioned from his earthly home to his eternal home on Friday, June 8, 2018, at the UAB Hospital.

Dennis was educated in the Leeds City School System and graduated from Leeds High School in 1986. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army for four years. Dennis was the Chief Water Operator at Leeds Water Works.

Dennis was a fun, loving and outgoing person. He loved to barbecue, fish and he loved sports. He also loved children.

His wife of 23 years, Mrs. Donna Joe Martin Abernathy, preceded him in death.

Dennis leaves to cherish his memories three children: Dennis, Jr., Terra and Zachary Abernathy; mother: Marilyn L. Abernathy; three sisters: Tarrilyn, Beverly and Stephanie; three brothers: Daryl (Quintessa), Derrick and Roderek Abernathy; sister-in-law: Kathy (Terry) Sims. Dennis had a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
