Deacon Allen Dorman, Jr., known as Uncle Bud by his family. He was born February 1, 1923, in Munford, Alabama, (Talladega County), to Allen Dorman, Sr. and Bessie Shivers. He was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Christine Benefield Dorman; three sons: Edwin Dorman, Allen Roosevelt, and Alvin Dorman, his dad, Allen Dorman, Sr., his mother Bessie Shivers, seven sisters, Laura Archie, Nellie Mae Powell, Lula Bell Dorman, Mary Francis Handley, Rosa Lee Dorman, Ozella Dorman, Emma Lou Jackson; one brother: George Dorman; and one granddaughter: Rosalind Edwards.
Deacon Allen Dorman, Jr., accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. He later joined Mount Zion Baptist Church, under the late Dr. Walter Sims. He was serious about his vow unto the Lord and served faithfully until his health begin to fail.
Deacon Dorman was a WWII Veteran - He was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army on October 25, 1945. He retired from the Birmingham News. He later worked many years for Church’s Chicken.
Deacon Dorman answered the Lord’s call on June 5, 2018, at V. A. Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughters Phyllis Dorman and Diane Edwards (Marshall), both from Birmingham, Alabama: brothers: Jack Dorman (Maggie) and Jeff Dorman; sister: Tommie Bradford from Munford, Alabama; one brother-in-law: Josephus Bennifield; daughter-in-law: LaCynthia Dorman from Redford, Michigan; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, friends and a loving church family, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Ishkooda.
