Christopher LaGarde Harris

Mr. Christopher LaGarde Harris  was born on March 27, 1961, to the late Ermon Bishop and Jewel Dean Harris in Calera, Alabama. He graduated from Calera High School and went on to dedicate four years of service to the Army and fourteen years of service to the Army Reserve.

Chris was baptized at First Baptist Church of Calera at an early age. Chris was a truly faithful servant to First Baptist and to the community. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone. He was a very special man. He was kind and befriended anyone he met. As he would say, “I got friends in a lot of places.” His smile and infectious personality would brighten anyone’s day.

He was preceded in death by his mother Jewel Dean Harris, father Ermon Bishop and sister Cynthia Harris.

Chris entered into God’s presence on December 20, 2018, at UAB Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memories three daughters: Kristy (James) Edwards, Ellen (DeAndre) Davis, and Felicia Harris; three grandchildren: Dasmine Grayson, Christopher Harris, and Emery Davis; one great-grandchild: Courtney Browder; eight sisters: Phyllis McNeal, Leigh Ann Harris, Alice “Pat” Harris, Muriel Bailey, Karen Shanks, Belinda (Michael) Kirkland, Hattie (Harvey) Trinhorn, and Keisha Lewis; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
