Bearl Graves Obituary

Retired Marine Sergeant Bearl Graves was born April 27, 1950, to the union of Millard Graves II and the late Pearl Haynes Graves in Oneonta, AL. He was preceded in death by his mother Pearl, two sons Randolph L. Graves and Derrick A. Graves, a grandson Baby Boy Rose, three sisters; Baby Girl Graves, Paulette Graves Ball and Lydia Graves Johnson and great nephew Jaylon Earl Graves.

Marine Sergeant Bearl Graves accepted Christ as his savior at an early age and joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Oneota, AL. After relocating to Leeds, AL to be near his daughter in 2010. Bearl with wife Beverly united served, sowed and were avid supporters of their daughter Minister Sabrina Rose in ministry.

Bearl was educated in Oneonta City School System, graduating with honors in 1968. Bearl was drafted and accepted the call to serve in the United States Marine Corps as a career serving in electrical engineering as Wire Chief. Bearl was injured while on active duty and was retired due to the loss of sight. He was decorated and honored receiving; Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, recommended for reenlistment during his over eight years, and awarded an Honorable Discharge of service well done. Bearl enjoyed travelling and during his service spent time in; Camp Pendleton North San Diego, California, Okinawa Island Japan, Quantico Station Quantico, Virginia, Kaneohe Bay Honolulu, Hawaii, Republic of Vietnam, Camp Lejeune Jacksonville, North Carolina and Anniston, Alabama. Bearl received a Bachelor Degree in Human Services and Counseling.

Bearl enjoyed family and friends, politics, news, sports, especially football and his favorite team was The University of Alabama – Roll Tide!

Bearl departed this life and his earthly vessel Sunday February 17, 2019 and entered his sweet rest.

Bearl affectionately known by his grands as “Poppa” leaves to cherish his memory; his daughter, Minister Sabrina Graves Rose (Courtney, Sr), his wife, Beverly Jones Graves-Reid. Grandchildren; Melanie Rose (George Falkner), Aspen Steele, Trevon Strickland, Courtney Rose, Jr, Trenton Brasher, Melina Rose, Daniel Andrew Brasher, Elizabeth Graves, Abriel Graves. Great Granddaughter; Novaly Reign Brasher. Step daughter; Roshawnda Berry, step grandsons; Tyrico Berry and Edwynn Berry. Father Millard “Pete” Graves, II. Siblings; Millar Graves, Marva Bradley, Flora Ball-Davis (Fredrick Davis, III), Benny Graves, Minister Ruby Thomas (David Thomas) and Patricia Graves. Brother in laws; Ross Jones Jr, Andrew Ball and Darryl Johnson. Sister in laws; Elsie Jones and Jacqueline Looney. Uncles; Nylon (Dorothy) Graves, Nolan (Diane) Graves, Charles (Patricia) Williams, George “Jack” Phillips, Aunts; Carrie Woods, Mary Standridge, Adella Williams, Genora (Curlandrew) White. Very Special heart children; Alexia Looney, Joe Looney, Jr and Brayden Spence and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and a lifetime of friends and neighbors.
