Alice Marie Traylor, born Alice Marie McNealey on Monday, November 2, 1936, was the seventh of four boys and seven girls, born to the late Jabe and Ericka McNealey in Sylacauga, Alabama. She was educated in the Sylacauga City School System but graduated high school in Youngstown, Ohio. Under the wise guidance of her parents, she learned of and confessed Christ at an early age uniting with Rising Star Baptist Church of Sylacauga. Alice was the proud mother of two sons Albert Junior and Billy Ray McNealey.
In 1973 she relocated to Birmingham, Al where she joined Macedonia Baptist Church and later united with her son at New Saint Mark AME Church. Wearing many hats, she faithfully served as Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Member, president of The Stewardess Board, president of The Missionary Board, and president of The Lay Organization until recently when her health would no longer permit. She worked in the Birmingham area as a professional dry-cleaning presser until her retirement. She had a green thumb and enjoyed working in her yard, singing, spending time with family, decorating, conversing regularly on the phone with her sisters, and attending the annual Magic City Classic parade.
God peacefully and painlessly transitioned Alice from this life on Thursday, October 24, 2019. Preceding her in death were her son (Billy Ray McNealey), granddaughter (Shirlesia Martin), and siblings (Eula Kelly, Garland McNealey, Jabie Oden, Betty McNealey, and Sarah Spooney). Her memories will be cherished by her loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law Albert & Cheryl; four grandchildren; La'Aldrick, De'LaTorre (Carla), Apprila, and Eric; six great grandchildren; Shanyia, Jamari, Karlyn, Ashlyn, Terriun, and Nico; two sisters, Linda Liggins and Maczinna Miller (Robert); three brothers, Willie (Eloise), Frank, and Minister AD McNealey. Also cherishing her memory is her devoted great niece Conzeula Garrett and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, friends and her New Saint Mark Church Family.
