In Birmingham, Alabama on April 6, 1943, a daughter was born to the union of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Lee Hoskins (Fitts), whom they named Alberta.
Alberta was educated in the Birmingham public schools and graduated from Ullman High School.
Alberta confessed Christ at an early age and joined New Pilgrim Baptist Church under the late Dr. Nelson H. Smith, Jr., where she served as a member of the Mass Choir and monthly Sheep Fold. She served faithfully until her health began to fail her.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late McArthur Beal and to this union, two children were born, McArthur Beal, Jr. (deceased) and Stephanie Denise Beal. She later united in marriage to the late James Henry Reese and to this union a son was born, Steven Reese.
Alberta was employed with the Jefferson County Laundry where she retired in 2003. She was also employed with National Linen, Riteway Cleaning Service and Sam’s Club. In reflection, many may remember her unique quality of always having a smile on her face. She left a lasting impression on all those around her and no one was a stranger in her presence; she welcomed everyone into her home and many loved her as if she was their own mother or grandmother.
Alberta adored being in the presence of family (especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren) and friends, loved music and had a passion for traveling. She looked forward to yearly vacations with family and extended family.
On Friday, April 12, 2019 God dispatched an angel to escort his dear child home. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7), and now it is time for her to rest.
Also preceding her in death were her sisters Eulalia Lacy and Louise Littlejohn; brothers, Andrew and Wilbert Lee Hoskins, Jr. and several sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and other family members.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: A loving daughter, Stephanie Denise Beal of Birmingham, AL.; a loving son Steven Reese (Twana) of Birmingham, AL; five grandchildren: Latisha Beal, Reginald Caver, Jr., Airene Caver, Annjahnis Redin and Tamyra Reese Roberson, all of Birmingham, AL.; nine great-grandchildren; her special adopted children: Eric Farmer, Sandra Rush, Leticia King, Brian and Marcia Curry and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
