Watie Janice (Steptoe) Jones

Watie was born on May 13, 1927, in Corsicana, Texas to the union of the late Luke and Martha Steptoe, and was the youngest of five sisters and 2 brothers.  She confessed Christ at a young age and remained faithful to her Lord and Savior until she was called home.

She met and married her childhood sweetheart Arthur Jones Jr. in 1945 and shortly there after moved to Detroit, Mi. where she worked and retired after 32 years of service with the Detroit Board of Education. In 2009 she moved to Birmingham, Al. and became a member of New Birth Birmingham. Watie loved Bishop Stephen Davis and First Lady Darlene.

On February 5, 2018 Watie was given her wings and six days later was joined by her son Jeriah Jones. She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Jones Jr, Daughter and Son-in-law Ethel and Richard Haynes, Daughter-in-law Betty Jones, two granddaughters and a great-grandson.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory all her children who knew as "Momma", nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
